Training minds and improving hearts
The Homeschool Enrichment Program is a department of Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Colorado, a public charter school offering a classical, liberal arts education to students in grades K-8. The mission, vision, core virtues, and curriculum are consistent in both our full-time and part-time programs.
Our goal is to partner with parents in developing students with strong character and virtue, while enriching the home education. This program provides home educators with an academic community that seeks to learn the True, do the Good, and love the Beautiful.
Our Homeschool Enrichment Program is open to homeschooled students in Kindergarten through grade 8. Students in grades K-8 are invited to join our one-day-a-week program designed to enrich the home education through an offering of excellent classical academic enrichment classes as well as providing an opportunity for students to learn alongside their peers. Students in grades 9-12 are invited to choose up to three courses offered at our full-time campus to attend part-time during the week. Additionally, all homeschool enrichment students are permitted to join our full-time campus programs including extracurriculars (athletics, fine arts, etc.) and school events. Students in grades 9-12 will be sorted into a House and invited to join all House activities with their peers.
Ascent Colorado Classical Schools are licensed users of the Hillsdale College K-12 curriculum. The Homeschool Enrichment Program is not endorsed by Hillsdale College. While both programs are intended to be compatible, the Homeschool Enrichment curriculum is composed of original content created by its faculty or derived from sources in the public domain. All of our homeschool enrichment faculty and staff participate in training with full-time program faculty and staff, and receive administrative support from the Ascent Classical Academy administration.
Once-A-Week Program (K-8)
Our Kindergarten through eighth grade students meet for one full school day during the week.
Proposed Time and Location:
Fridays: 8:30 am – 3:00 pm
800 Bryan Court, Dacono, CO 80514
Students will attend the following six classes:
Art
In this class, students will experience the world of art through the lens of different artists, their works, and their mediums. This well-rounded class will encourage both appreciation and application, blending of art appreciation, art history, and a hands-on art experience.
Classical Studies/Great Biographies
In this class, students will see history come alive as they learn about remarkable men and women who have changed the course of history. They will read biographies and related literature to study the lives of scientists, reformers, early Americans, and other key figures throughout history.
Literature
In this class, our younger students (grades K-2) will listen to great stories and participate in supplementary activities that enrich the literature presented to them. Our older students (grades 3-8) will read the texts together and participate in discussions with their classmates.
Music
In this class, students will engage in music appreciation, music theory, the study of classical music, composer studies, and instrument studies, and engage musically through singing, rhythm, and instruments.
Nature Study
In this class, students will be invited to join in hands-on and highly interactive lessons focused on teaching the skill of observation in the natural world. This course will equip students with important science terms and concepts and teach them to create and keep a nature journal.
Kindergarten will cover the same classes, excluding music and art. Kindergarten is also unique in that the students will stay with one teacher all day, rather than changing with each class.
In addition to our weekly program, our students are permitted to participate in all extracurricular activities that our traditional school program offers. This includes athletics, fine arts, music, clubs, and all-school events at our full-time campus.
We also offer administration of state-required testing for students in grades 3, 5, and 7 for interested families, as well as curriculum and home education consultations if requested.
For more information please contact our Program Director Mrs. Hannah Schneider at hannah.schneider@nc.ascentcolorado.org
Part-Time Program (9-12)
Our part-time program allows families with students in grades 9-12 to select up to three courses from our offerings in our Upper School at the full-time campus. Class options may include science labs (chemistry, biology, etc.), theater, music (choir, band, or orchestra), physical education, and foreign languages. Options may vary and are at the discretion of the administration each academic year.
For more information on our part-time program, please contact the main campus Registrar, Mrs. Schmidt at nicole.schmidt@nc.ascentcolorado.org.
In addition to our part-time high school program, our students are permitted to participate in all extracurricular activities that our traditional school program offers. This includes athletics, fine arts, music, clubs, and all-school events at our full-time campus. Students in grades 9-12 participating in the part-time program will be sorted into our House System, and invited to join in House events.

FAQ
-
We provide an academic enrichment program only; families in our program are fully responsible for the content and curriculum selection, and instruction of their child(ren) at home. We have information available for families who would like to align their homeschool content to what we are working on in the homeschool program, however. We also provide consultation and guidance if a family would like assistance in selecting programming and curriculum for their homeschool.

This is a publicly-funded, tuition-free program. There is a student fee of $75 per student (with a family cap of $225). There are no student supply lists. This fee covers all of your student’s books and supplies.

Yes. In order to facilitate an atmosphere of learning and respect, students will be required to wear a uniform. More details about uniforms can be found HERE. Please keep in mind that our uniform does differ slightly from the main campus. More information will be provided after registration.
-
You should expect weekly at-home work for students in grades 3-8. This work will include poetry memorization, reading for literature and history, and occasional work from other classes to supplement in-class learning. By having students complete a small amount of work at home each week, we are able to use class time for rich discussion, presentations and valuable in-person instruction.
-
There will be numerous opportunities for you to be involved in your student’s learning, but there is no formal volunteer requirement.
-
Teachers are required to have mastery of their academic discipline and have a strong ability to convey information to young people. Teachers are not required to hold a Colorado teaching license.
